About Us
Connaught Engineering was acquired in 2016 by Phil Bevan of Bevan Davidson International. The sale included a large inventory of V10 engines, gearboxes, bodies and parts from the ill fated V10 Type D Syracuse project from 2004. The intention now is to build five of the original Type D cars as a tribute to the cars design and engineering which was then way ahead of its time. We then plan to release a new version of the Type D which will have revised styling and updated interior together with the new generation of the V10 engine.
The Type D’s V10 engine development has been taken over by Villiers Engineering, a sister company in the BDI group and has been developed further to replace the shell bearings on the crankshaft with needle rollers. The plan is to use this engine and derivatives of it in the BDI group companies other project vehicles.

Running parallel with the above, Connaught plans to release some new niche vehicles which will be firmly based on the companies successful racing heritage. The first of these is the Speedster Concept. This is the brainchild of company designer Steve Kirk.
Steve said “imagine having your own 1950’s light weight grand prix car for the road, what an amazing driving experience that would be. This would be a car you would take out purely for the pleasure of driving it!”
